Due to streamlining of office processes the telephone number 0131 558 7131 will no longer be in use. The number 0131 557 0405 is now the sole telephone in the Regimental Office.
This picture comes from a clip on BBC1 last Sunday at 6pm ‘The Queen:70 Glorious Years’ (5.43 minutes into the programme).
In the Depot notes of the November 1952 Thistle is recorded;
On 11th June a guard of honour of forty men, commanded by Lieutenant C.J.S. Thornton, was present at the Mercat Cross, where a proclamation was read by the Lord Lyon King of Arms, announcing the date of the Coronation of Her Majesty The Queen.
Interesting to note the officer’s dress with a pistol and ammunition pouch on his (37 Pattern) belt

Jean, my wife of 54 years passed away last night after a very short illness. She had an aggressive cancer that affected her organs and after consultation with her Drs and with no chance of recovery her life support was switched of.
For ever in my thoughts.

Sincere condolences to you and all your family Danny.
It is with great sadness that we report the death on 1 Feb 2022 of Bill Hunter. Initially Bill joined the Cameronians in 1962, but later transferred to the Royal Scots and completed the remainder of his 22 years of service with 1RS, finishing in 1984 as WO2. Our thoughts are with his daughters Tracy and Caroline, his grandsons Jack and Robert, and the remainder of his family and friends. The funeral will be held at 1030 on Wed 23 Feb 2022 at Warriston Crematorium, followed by a wake at a nearby venue.
RIP Bill
Deepest Condolences to Danny,Family and friends at this sad time.Another Daughter of The Regimental Family gone to fetch her wings and watch over all whom she loved eternally.Until The Grandiozo Reunion R.I.P. Jean.
Rest in Peace. Condolences to all concerned.
My gtx3 Grandfather, Sergeant Andrew Mulvany was aboard the shipwrecked vessel with his wife and children. Miraculous that they all survived. Surprising that families accompanied their men around the empire. Years later on retirement he became a Chelsea ‘out-pensioner’ based in Alnwick, Northumberland.
Good Morning Bill,
The detail on matters of property, colours, heritage and others are still being worked through. An early step will be a full property check of those items held by 1 RANGER Bn in Belfast. We will let the Regimental Family know when the way forward is clearer. I have reported elsewhere that this transition could take between 3 to 5 years.
Hope all well and regards to Lyn.
Many thanks George. I appreciate that there are many issues to be resolved and this will take a significant amount of time to sort everything out. My concern was the amount of property etc that 1 SCOTS had inherited from both 1 RS and 1 KOSB when the two Regiments merged in August 2006, much of which would have been on loan from respective Regimental Museums. There is, of course, many other issues that will need to be resolved, not least that of the Regimental Colours. I have every confidence in all these matters being dealt with appropriately by our Regimental Trustees. Regular updates on progress published via either the Regimental Guestbook and Thistle, or both, would be appreciated,
Kind Regards to both you and Shirley.

Will this silver be returned to the Regimental Museum?
