  2. THE RS MUSEUM OUTREACH EXHIBITION

    The RS Museum Outreach exhibition at Tynecastle has three more days to run, i.e Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 1000 – 1630 daily.

    Come along and see this excellent exhibition with McCrae’s Battalion and the Hearts / 16 RS relationship at the centre of it, and also featuring RS sport.

    We’re averaging 100 visitors per day, all of whom have been highly complimentary thus far, with opportunity also to view the Hearts FC Museum – and there’s a cafe with teas, coffees and pies!

    1. I was at the exhibition today and was impressed by the hard work that has gone in to this, by everyone involved. It was lovely meeting Old Royals and the enthusiasm shown in getting the Regiment’s story was wonderful to see and hear.

  3. McCrae’s Battalion Trust will hold a Remembrance Service at 1030 on Sun 7 Jul 2024 at St Cuthbert’s Church, 5 Lothian Rd, Edinburgh EH1 2EP, followed by a gathering in McCrae’s Place by the Usher Hall. All are welcome.

    1. All are welcome on Sunday 7th July at St Cuthbert’s and by the Usher Hall because it chimes with the RS Outreach Act of Remembrance in the Scottish National War Memorial on 1st July that coincided with the Pilgrimage to Contalmaison and with the temporary RS Museum Exhibition at Tynecastle that opened today and runs until 1600 Wednesday 10th July, celebrating Sir George McCrae’s 16 RS. Open daily 1000 – 1630. No need to book; just come along.

  4. Major Christopher Delacombe

    The funeral for Major Christopher Delacombe will be a private family occasion. A Thanksgiving Service will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday 24 July 2024 at St Lawrence’s Church, Chobham, Surrey, GU24 8AD. Donations may be made to Woking and Sam Beare Hospice (Charity No 1082798).

    Those who wish to attend are requested to note that the middle of the village will be chaos with major roadworks and traffic lights at an important junction. There is a public car park in the centre of the village and is within easy walking distance of the church. There are also excellent trains from Waterloo to Woking, which is five miles away.

    A live-stream of the service will be available for those unable to attend. If you wish to join the live-stream please notify Lucy Delacombe, who will send a link nearer the day. Please get in touch with the Regimental Office if you do not have Lucy’s email address.

  5. Condolences to the family of major Delacombe.I recall piping at his Osnabruck dining- in.
    More recently, I visited Melbourne in the state of Victoria,Australia where his father Gen Sir Rohan Delacombe, served as the governor-general of that state.

    The funeral for Maj Neil Homewood will be held at 1300 on Mon 8 Jul 2024 at Mortonhall Crematorium, 30B Howden Hall Road, Edinburgh, EH16 6TX and afterwards at Boroughmuir Rugby Club, Meggetland Wynd, Edinburgh, EH14 1AS.

    1. Sad news indeed about Major Chris.
      As a member of the Southern Branch we met up on many occasions and would E mail each other
      ref Events and photos of these occasions.
      First met Major Chris when I joined the Bn in Osnabruck and then on to Tidworth.
      My thoughts are with the Family and friends at this sad time.

  9. 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Kohima

    Come and join The Royal Scots Regimental Association at a Memorial Service to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Kohima.
