    2. Absolutely sad news about Major Steve!
He was my RSM on joining the Bn in Osnabruck after Training at
JTR Troon and I found him too be a remarkable chap who commanded
respect and was always there too help if you needed advice etc.
I saw a lot of him at events over the years where he would give you a nod and a smile.
The Southern Branch would like too send their Condolences too the Family and dear friends of Major Steve.
      RIP Sir.

    3. Sincere Condolences to The Simson Family.Fond memories of Steve at Regimental Dinners and events.A Gallant Royal Scots Officer veteran. The Canopy of heaven has been adorned with a bright new shinning Star to watch over all he loved eternally.R.I.P. Sir until The Grandiozo Re-org Bro.

    4. So very sorry to hear of Major Stevie’s passing. He was my first RSM in Osnabruck and many years later at an RS Regimental function I called him Sir, quite naturally. He said to call him Steve, but, sorry, I had so much respect for him he will always be Sir to me – and in this case I meant it.

I reqret that I will not be able to be at the funeral but I bet there are some great stories passed around.

  2. GRETNA 110 Regimental Museum Outreach Exhibition 19- 24 May 2025

In May 2015 the 100th anniversary of the Quintinshill Rail Disaster when in 1915 216 Royal Scots of the 7th (Leith) Battalion were killed and many more injured on their way from Larbert to Liverpool Docks to embark to go and fight in Gallipoli, was marked by a major Regimental event on the 22nd of May which was followed by the annual Service at Rosebank Cemetery in Leith.
Preparations are well advanced to hold the GRETNA 110 interactive exhibition in the 1st/7th Battalion’s former Drill Hall in Dalmeny Street, just off Leith Walk. The annual Regimental Service at Rosebank Cemetery is taking place on Saturday 24th May, and there is close coordination to ensure significant involvement of the local community.
Details of the train crash, the worst ever in UK, are at https://www.theroyalscots.co.uk: Heritage (1st World War). Further details will follow in the Upcoming Events.

  3. I would just like to thank The Royal Scots Regimental Trust for putting on a fantastic Volunteers Lunch for us on Wed 11 Dec 24 in The Royal Scots Club. The food, drink and banter was great and it was brilliant to catch up with some handsome faces I have not seen since 1993. Just to name a few were Stu Marshall, Tam Logan, Paul Robertson, Tam Douglas, Stuart Aitken and Alex Docker. Thanks to David Toomai Macleod and Neil Cammy Cameron for the catch up and stories over a few bears in the bar after lunch.

Next time I may have a suit that will fit me but hopefully my Hunting Stewart polo shirt was acceptable this time round.

As a few of you expressed an interest in my Hunting Stewart polo shirt I thought I would put the link here should you wish to purchase one.
